Employers’ Choice of University.
Which universities do Malaysian employers hire from, and hire from again? Every year we ask them, and publish what they tell us. No application, and no fee.

The National Graduate Employability Index shows which universities Malaysian employers hire from, and which they would hire from again. It is built from Talentbank’s annual survey of 1,000+ organisations across Malaysia, and it was officially launched in 2023.
It is a record of employer experience. It is not an opinion, a prospectus or a paid listing. Universities do not apply to be on it, and none can pay to be placed on it.
For now, the results are published at the Employers’ Choice Award and in our Graduate Recruitment Handbook. The full national directory launches soon.

Each reader asks a different question of the same results.
See how employers rate your graduates, and where your institution stands with the people who hire them. It is evidence you can take into planning and into conversations with industry.
Add your voice. Tell us which campuses you hire from and would hire from again, and read where other employers keep finding the graduates they want.
Look at a university through the eyes of those who hire. Use the Index as one input beside the course and the campus, not instead of them.
An employer-sourced view of how graduates are received in the market, offered in support of the national effort to raise graduate employability.
The Index is ours to run and the employers’ to decide. This is what stands behind it.
Talentbank has worked alongside employers and universities since it was founded in 2010.
20 public and 16 private universities work with us under signed partnership agreements.

Wherever I go, someone asks me the same question. A parent at an event, a student after a talk, a stranger who hears what we do. Which university should I go to?
For a long time I did not have a good answer. I could give an opinion, like anyone else. But I had no real data to point them to, nothing that told them where their choice might actually lead.
That is why we built this.
I built this for a simple reason. Every school leaver deserves a better university and a better tertiary education, and with it a better chance of landing a job on graduation. My hope is that no one chooses a university because a campus is near home or looks impressive in a brochure. I want that choice made on what employers are actually hiring for.
After school comes university, and after university comes work. So the question that matters most is a practical one: do employers value the graduates who come from here?
Each year we ask them. We survey thousands of employers across Malaysia about the talent they hire and the campuses they return to. This Index is built from what they tell us, not from opinion, and not from anything a university can pay for.
Every university recognised has earned its place through that recognition. We do not rank one above another, because the right university is the one that fits the person, and different campuses lead in different fields. When the full directory opens, you will be able to look for that fit by field, by location and by the kind of institution that suits you.
If it helps, share it with someone facing the same decision. The more honestly this choice is made, the better it is for everyone, students, employers and universities alike.
Every cycle, employers answer three questions about the universities they hire from.
Employers name the institutions that supply their graduate hires.
The numbers show whether a university is a regular source or an occasional one.
The third question carries the weight. Anyone can be hired once. A university whose graduates employers keep coming back for is telling you something no prospectus can.
The input comes from organisations that hire graduates, not from the universities themselves.
There is no application and no fee, and a university cannot nominate itself.
We do not rank one university above another. Different campuses lead in different fields.
Results are gathered through the year and announced each Raya season.
Beyond the survey, we bring people together to work on it. These are recent sessions.

Today the Index is published in two places. A national directory is on its way.
Each Raya season, a year of employer ratings is announced at the ceremony. Recognised universities receive the Employers’ Choice of University trophy and certificate.
About the award →The Handbook’s University Reference chapter includes the Graduate Employability Index. The full Handbook is free when you complete a short survey.

There is no form to fill in to join the Index. There are, however, three ways to be part of it.
Recognition comes from employers’ own ratings, never from an application or a fee. If you represent a university, we can explain how the survey works and how universities are rated.
Ask how universities are rated →Tell us the campuses you hire from and would hire from again. Your answers are what the Index is built on, and together we keep it true to the market.
Talk to our employer team →If your office works on graduate employability, we would be glad to share how the Index is built and how it might support your work.

Three questions. Which universities do you frequently hire from? How many graduates did you hire? Will you hire from them again? The third carries the weight, because a university whose graduates employers keep coming back for is telling you something no prospectus can.
No. We do not rank one university above another, because the right university is the one that fits the person, and different campuses lead in different fields.
